In Q3 of 2022, Yesterday Design Co. began working with Mik Bakery & Cafe. Mik is an independent, women-owned Albanian-style bakery and cafe located in Mississauga, Ontario. They offer unique cafe beverages, yummy baked goods, and custom-made cakes.

After the discovery session with the client, we learned that the owners were seeking a beautiful brand identity that resonated with their goals. They wanted to give full control of the brand strategy, and needed a full range of design services.  In order to communicate the company values, we knew the brands’ strategy needed to be elegant and inviting.

Strategy

The origins of the name stem from the Albanian language, where “Mik” represents someone trustworthy and dependable – a person who you know will have a door open for you in difficult times. The name perfectly encapsulates the communal, friendly approach to this brand identity.

The origins of the name stem from the Albanian language, where “Mik” represents someone trustworthy and dependable – a person who you know will have a door open for you in difficult times. The name perfectly encapsulates the communal, friendly approach to this brand identity.

Mark Inspiration

The logo mark is an extension of the type mark, which is intended to be used in smaller capacity areas of digital and print format. In order to fit beautifully in smaller formats, a circular design was added. As a result of this decision, this mark would be used on drink coasters, social media, and more.

The ‘M’ design stems from the name of the business, Mik Cafe, and is a short formed version of the full logo placed into a stamp-style.

The gorgeous cafe and bakery needed a social media strategy! Social media would be used to engage and attract customers and show off their delicious drinks and treats. Therefore, social media content was provided to their team as a part of the brand package. This was strategically developed to support the identity provided!

Print Material

Quality print material is vital to building a business. Therefore, print such as business cards, menu designs, letterheads, and other materials must be designed and sourced time-effectively. After boosting the print quality, the company received compliments from its peers. Due to inexperience, the company needed consulting on the execution of print material. As a result, beautiful print designs were given to the client.
